Konrad’s City Chase REPORT
Sydney City Chase 2008 - it hurt.
Team THRILL hit the 1st Sydney city chase check point by running diagonally through the Sydney city to Circular Quay and jumped behind the wheel of a volvo car.
Soccer push-bump in for a goal with speed a little chirp from the wheels when reversing, ahhh such delights (thankyou volvo).
2nd Circular Quay checkpoint was not easily sighted and we missed it, instead heading up over Observatory Hill to enjoy a fear factor team building of lizards and snakes draped over our heads.
Followed by a long run over to Kirribilly markets, was gruelling.

An annoyed boot camp muscular jock, put us to the test.
Our bodies on the line and pushed up and down 150, due to starting again and again every time a question was asked. The response “START AGAIN”, 100 situps which became 150.
Welcome to lack of humour by Original Boot Camp.
This took the shine off us lads, but undaunted THRILL jumped on the train back to Sydney Townhall, then crossed to Hyde Park. Strapping triffid like contraptions to walk stilt like round a short course and jump up and down 10 times, bewildering many Sydney passer-by’s.
A
jog which was getting slower and painful was warmed up with Tiger Balm.
Behind St Mary’s Cathedral we tossed nylon promo frisbees into a hula hoop, alas Konrad tossed his away in the morning and Nic took hold of it and had tucked it away in his never ending bag of tricks. Note always be prepared for the unexpected.
Down the hill and out to Woolloomooloo (the loo) - it was hop scotch with a rhyme, then zipped past Harrys Café DeWheels, over Potts Point, Kings Cross down by Elizabeth Bay house and descend to a Manadatory ChasePoint at Rushcutters Bay Park where our 2nd Boot camp personnell were more friendly!!!
Plastic rifle thinggies to carry, as we zigged and dropped to stomachs and zagged to drop again, squatting to knees and run and repeat 20 sets.... we both accomplished this task smoothly despite the pain. Post boot camp a sheet was provided.
Tri-venger, a mix of scavenger hunt and trivia a collection of sponsors products jumbled into a answer sheet. At this point a realisation overcame us hand in the Tri-venger at Kirribilly, what THE!
As we legged it and Konrad hobbled up and over Paddington, we contacted our resources Jeff for the GAFF, which Konrad must have pronounced as GAS as was gasping for breath (Thanks Jeff the nightclubs sound worth visiting once recovery has taken place) and Nic for Trivia and his mates did exceptionally.
More Tiger Balm , smells like big red chewing gum and really does help.
THRILL team skirted Victoria Barracks as some lively young female whippets, whipped our butts and headed to Fox Studios to line que and then be teamed up with 4 other teams to use state of the art GPS Nokia technology suited for driving than cross country running orienteering and navigation.
Luckily one lass had experience with Nokia device and found the end point.
Pocketting the Nokia we short cutted to a Nokia bill-Board on a Trailer, received a happy snap and roamed back to Fox Studios.
1hr.10mins for a chasepoint that was mandatory was a little too long and frustrating.
No dilemma, team THRILL held it together, diagonally on 3 feet cutting back to Darlinghurst to the GAFF nightclub, with our fastest challenge yet HAHN with rocks in a slippery, slimy arena, we evacuated pronto.
A rethink on Oxford Street saw us take on Belmore Park with an eating challenge, wasabi, meal worms, onion, jelly and weetbix.
Munching, sculling water and quick thinking got us through with a minor splutter and no vomitting. Yipppeeee.
Back to Central trains, poor ticket vending machines and some friendly co-competitors who shared info and powerade resources as we crossed Sydney Harbour again.
More Tiger Balm and stumbled down to Jeffery Street Wharf to deposit Trivenger answers and stagger back up. Train to Townhall jog for Nic Hop for Konrad, down to Dixon street where Thai Chi was taken seriously.
With only 7 minutes remaining we were not in position to access final checkpoints round Pyrmont.
Nic’s chi (energy) maintained as Konrad’s left searing foot pain was evident, 200m and closing we picked up some pace.
Konrad lept onto the announcer at 1min.20sec to spare and Nic continued heroically to head down to Wollongong for another film adventure soon to be aired on www.3rdTribe.com
Hahn Beer enabled Konrad to forget the foot, 2 wraps and the day was done!!!!!
Together THRILL team accomplished 11 ChasePoints, had a superb day, learnt a few new team strategies. Thankyou City Chase, thankyou Volvo, thankyou Nic Aplin, thankyou Sydney, thankyou Co-Competitors.
