A fresh kind of board meeting

From conference seats to something your people create together.

A room full of colleagues. A table of components. A colourful deck that gradually becomes a complete skateboard. Thrill brings people into the action through a mix of creativity, practical assembly and shared purpose.

Small teams plan their design, organise parts and work through the build with facilitator guidance. There are roles for the creative thinker, the careful organiser and the colleague who likes working with their hands. No skating experience is needed to take part in the build.

It is a lively way to connect departments, welcome new colleagues or bring a conference theme into a shared task. The finished boards are prepared for an agreed receiving organisation, with the donation arrangements planned before your event.

Big room. Small teams. Shared achievement.

Skateboard building for large conferences and corporate groups.

Large-group energy comes from a well-organised room. Thrill can scope a hosted build with table teams, coordinated demonstrations and facilitators supporting participants as the activity unfolds.

01 · BRING THE ROOM TOGETHER

A shared opening

Set the purpose, introduce the receiving organisation and connect the activity to your conference message. A clear briefing helps delegates understand both the task and the contribution.

02 · KEEP PEOPLE INVOLVED

Small teams within the room

Plan pairs or small table teams around the number of boards and available space. Share creative, assembly and organising roles so the activity offers different ways to contribute.

03 · MAINTAIN MOMENTUM

Coordinated facilitation

Build the run sheet around demonstrations, materials distribution, table support, checks and the closing moment. For larger rooms, agree microphones, screens and sightlines with the venue.

Planning for hundreds of delegates? Share your attendance, room layout and session window early. Thrill will confirm a suitable facilitator plan, workstation arrangement and board quantity. Final capacity depends on the venue, equipment and delivery brief.

Think beyond the participant session: loading access, setup, table protection, storage and pack-down all need a place in the conference schedule. Thrill works through these details with your organiser and venue team.

Scope your large-group Thrill

Create it. Build it. Give it.

A charity journey with purpose at every stage.

01 · CONNECT

Start with a real request

Agree a youth charity or community organisation that wants and can accept the boards. Confirm suitable equipment, quantities and the intended handover before choosing the event format.

02 · DESIGN

Give the deck personality

Bring ideas together through artwork, suitable pens, decals or agreed creative materials. Choose designs with the receiving audience in mind; the young person’s enjoyment is central.

03 · ASSEMBLE

Build through collaboration

Work through the agreed assembly stages with Thrill guidance. Colleagues organise components, follow demonstrations and help one another bring the board together.

04 · CHECK

Give the details attention

Allow time for assembly checks and corrections before boards are released for donation. Completion is about a properly prepared contribution, not simply finishing first.

05 · GIVE

Plan the next destination

Arrange collection, delivery or a presentation with a charity representative where appropriate. Include protective equipment if requested and agreed in the brief.

06 · REFLECT

Take the teamwork back to work

Close with the shared achievement. Explore what helped the team communicate, make decisions and notice details, then identify a practical behaviour to carry into everyday work.

Youth support begins with listening

A board worth giving. A connection worth making.

The most meaningful donation is one a receiving organisation can use. Thrill starts with the intended contribution, then shapes the activity around your people and event.

A skateboard can be part of a youth organisation’s recreation or engagement activities. Recipient needs, board suitability and any helmet or protective-equipment requirements should guide the selection. The event can include a briefing from an appropriate representative, subject to availability and agreement.

Young people do not need to attend or share personal experiences for your event to have purpose. Agree photography and storytelling with the receiving organisation. Your team can celebrate the work without making recipients responsible for providing an emotional finale.

Agree the handover before the first bolt.

Your proposal sets out the recipient arrangements, board quantities, checks, collection or delivery, and any agreed extras. A contribution is planned and specific; it does not depend on a last-minute search for somewhere to send the boards.

Choose your event style

Three ways to create your skateboard Thrill.

Each event is quoted to suit your group. Choose the emphasis, then Thrill scopes the materials, facilitation and timing around your brief.

Give teamwork a practical task

Communication you can see. Collaboration you can practise.

COMMUNICATION

Explain, listen, confirm

Translate an instruction into a shared action. Ask questions, check understanding and help a colleague who is approaching the task differently.

COLLABORATION

Make space for different strengths

Combine design ideas, practical skills and attention to detail. Share the work so contribution is visible beyond the most confident voices.

RESPONSIBILITY

Think about the next person

Consider the young person who will receive the board. Care, accuracy and a clear handover make useful talking points for customer service and project delivery.

For HR and L&D groups, ask Thrill to connect the debrief to a current workplace need: better project handovers, cross-team cooperation or clearer communication. A shared event creates material for reflection; practical follow-through helps the learning continue afterwards.

For EAs, PAs and conference organisers

A clear brief makes the whole event smoother.

Allow approximately 1–3 hours as an initial planning range, with the final duration confirmed against your build, artwork and conference agenda. Setup and pack-down are scheduled separately. If time is tight, let Thrill recommend a realistic scope before committing to the board quantity.

The build takes place at suitable workstations. Riding activities are a separate option requiring an appropriate space and supervision; participation in the assembly workshop does not require anyone to skate.

Questions before you book

Skateboard team building FAQs

What is skateboard charity team building?

A facilitated activity where colleagues design and assemble skateboards for an agreed receiving charity or youth organisation. Thrill combines practical tasks, creative choices and teamwork with a planned donation.

Is it suitable for a large conference?

Yes. Thrill can scope a larger event using small table teams, coordinated demonstrations and facilitator support. Confirm your numbers, floor plan, AV and session time so capacity and logistics can be assessed.

How many people work on each skateboard?

Pairs or small teams can share a board. The final arrangement depends on the number of participants, board quantity, room layout and desired level of hands-on involvement.

Do participants need to know how to skate?

No. This is a guided building activity. Share access requirements when planning so suitable roles and support can be arranged. Any riding session or demonstration is separately scoped.

Can we decorate the decks?

Yes, where included in the chosen format. Agree suitable materials, designs, time and any branding before the event. Designs should suit the receiving audience and product requirements.

Which charity receives the skateboards?

A suitable organisation is agreed before the event, based on need and acceptance. You can discuss an existing relationship or ask Thrill to explore a connection. A particular charity or representative is not guaranteed.

Are helmets and delivery included?

Your proposal confirms the equipment and handover arrangements. Discuss helmet or protective-equipment needs, collection and delivery during planning so they are included in the agreed budget.

How long does the event take and what does it cost?

An initial planning range is approximately 1–3 hours, depending on the build and creative elements. Pricing is tailored to delegate numbers, board quantities, facilitation, location, materials and logistics. Request a proposal for your brief.
