A small space for big ideas

Today a cubby.
Tomorrow a café, a classroom or a castle.

A cubby house invites children to make a world of their own. A window becomes a shop counter. A doorway opens onto an imaginary adventure. The details your team creates can become part of someone else’s play.

For your staff, the build offers a shared goal with a visible result. People organise materials, share instructions, help with assembly and bring the design to life. Each contribution becomes part of the finished gift.

Thrill’s Cubby House Charity Team Building is a practical way for corporate groups to connect with a cause, while experiencing the value of working together carefully and creatively.

Purpose your people can work towards

A shared build brings different strengths together.

COMMUNICATION

Make the plan clear

Explain the next step, check understanding and ask for assistance. A construction task gives colleagues a practical reason to listen and coordinate.

COLLABORATION

Share the responsibility

Organising parts, supporting assembly, painting and checking details all matter. Teams work towards a complete result rather than a collection of individual tasks.

CREATIVITY

Think about the next person to use it

Choose colours and details within the agreed recipient brief. Translate ideas into a playful design while keeping suitability and care at the centre.

Designed for business staff, corporate conferences, graduate groups and community action days. HR and L&D teams can add a facilitated debrief about planning, leadership, quality and how colleagues support one another.

The Thrill build-to-give journey

Start with a need. Finish with a considered gift.

A cubby house needs a suitable place to go. Thrill plans the recipient connection and practical requirements before the event, then brings your team into the story.

01 · CONNECT

Agree the destination

Discuss an appropriate charity or your existing community relationship. Confirm the need, suitable design, available space and responsibilities for delivery, placement and ongoing care.

02 · PREPARE

Bring the team into the purpose

Share the agreed cause and brief the group. Thrill introduces the kit, roles, work area and tool-use arrangements so participants understand the task and how to contribute.

03 · BUILD

Turn parts into a shared achievement

Teams assemble the agreed cubby-house kit with facilitation and supervision. Colleagues coordinate their work, support one another and follow the build sequence.

04 · CREATE

Add colour and character

Paint and personalise within the approved design brief. Plan finishes and drying time so creativity supports a well-prepared gift.

05 · CHECK

Prepare for the next stage

Complete the agreed checks and adjustments before release. Confirm that finishes are ready and the structure can be handled and transported as planned.

06 · GIVE

Arrange the handover

Present to a charity representative or organise later delivery. Reflect on the team’s contribution, with placement and recipient arrangements confirmed separately where needed.

A gift matched to the receiving organisation.

Not every charity or family has room for a cubby house. We confirm suitability before committing to a build. Recipient attendance and photography are by agreement, and a later handover can be just as meaningful as a presentation on the day.

Hands-on work. Thoughtful facilitation.

Let your team build more than the walls.

Thrill creates an experience around the construction: introductions, team organisation, practical guidance and reflection. Your people can take responsibility for different parts of the project and learn from how the group works together.

No previous cubby-building experience is required. Share access needs and preferences early so suitable roles and workstations can be planned. Tool use is matched to the participants and supervised arrangements.

Friendly design challenges can add energy, while the shared priority remains a suitable, carefully completed gift. The finish is a moment for every crew to recognise what they contributed.

Shape the event around your people

Three ways to build with purpose.

Choose a community giving day, a creative conference activity or a team-development workshop. Thrill scopes the build, painting and reflection around your group and the agreed donation.

COMMUNITY ACTION

Build & give

Unite colleagues around a practical contribution to an agreed cause.

  • Charity purpose and project briefing.
  • Guided assembly and decoration.
  • Checks and agreed handover logistics.
CONFERENCE CONNECTION

Create together

Bring departments together around a shared, colourful project.

  • Team organisation and facilitated challenges.
  • Creative design within the recipient brief.
  • A showcase of the group’s contribution.
TEAM DEVELOPMENT

Build & reflect

Connect the activity with everyday working relationships.

  • Learning objectives agreed before the event.
  • Observation and discussion of teamwork.
  • Practical actions to carry back to work.

Plan the whole project, not just the workshop.

Your proposal specifies the cubby quantities and design, kits, materials, tools, facilitation, supervision and checks. We also agree painting and drying requirements, venue access, transport, handover and any placement or installation responsibilities. Costs and inclusions are confirmed before booking.

A documented Thrill community action day

ADCO: eight cubbies, one shared purpose.

Thrill’s published ADCO example describes colleagues assembling and painting eight cubby houses for Core Transitions. Teams helped one another through the build and changing weather, with the completed cubbies transported to the organisation for onward placement.

Practical details make a better giving experience

A clear plan from the event room to the receiving site.

Conference rooms, workplaces, warehouses and suitable outdoor areas can all be considered. Space to build is only one part of the plan: check floor protection, ventilation for the chosen finishes, loading access and how the completed structure will leave the venue.

The receiving site also needs to suit the chosen cubby. Confirm its intended use, placement, any installation requirements and who will look after it. Painting, drying and transport may extend beyond the participant session.

Thrill helps define these arrangements in the proposal so your team understands both the activity and the contribution it is funding.

What to include in your enquiry

Your participant numbers, preferred date, location, venue access, available time and budget. Let us know whether you already support a charity and whether a receiving site has been identified.

Questions before you book

Cubby House Charity Team Building FAQs

What is cubby house charity team building?

A facilitated corporate activity where colleagues assemble and decorate a cubby house for an agreed charitable purpose. Thrill connects practical tasks with team participation, checks and handover planning.

How long does the activity take?

Timing depends on the cubby design, quantities, participant numbers and finish. Thrill scopes the participant session separately from preparation, drying, transport and placement. Confirm your available time before choosing the build.

Do we need building experience?

No previous cubby-building experience is required. Thrill plans guidance and supervision around the chosen kit and tasks. Tell us about access needs so suitable roles and workstations can be arranged.

Who receives the finished cubby houses?

A suitable receiving organisation is agreed before the event. Its needs, available space and acceptance guide the project. You can discuss an existing charity relationship or ask Thrill to explore an appropriate connection.

Can the activity be held indoors?

Yes, where space, access and the chosen materials and finishes are suitable. Floor protection, ventilation and removal of the completed structure need to be planned. Outdoor events also need workable weather arrangements.

Is delivery and installation included?

Your proposal identifies transport, delivery, placement and any installation responsibilities. These should not be assumed to be the same service. Site suitability and any required permissions need to be checked for the chosen design and location.

Will children attend the event?

Only where appropriate and agreed with the receiving organisation. A charity representative may attend or handover may happen later. Recipient attendance and photography are never assumed.

How much does a cubby-building event cost?

Costs depend on the number and specification of cubbies, participants, materials, event location, facilitation and logistics. Send your brief for a proposal with clear inclusions and any additional delivery or placement costs.
