Thrill Solar PALS · Powerful Amped Lighting Systems
Bring your people together to assemble, explore and test portable solar kits. Combine professional solar panels, rechargeable battery systems and useful lighting with a facilitated experience that connects your team to the people receiving their contribution.
For corporate teams, large conferences and purposeful staff events across NSW and Queensland.
Useful power. Shared purpose.
When access to electricity is unreliable or unaffordable, everyday tasks become harder. Light for an evening activity or a way to recharge a phone can be a practical resource. Solar PALS connects that need with your team’s ability to contribute.
PALS means Powerful Amped Lighting Systems. Thrill brings together portable solar panels, rechargeable battery storage, lighting and compatible charging connections. Your proposal specifies the configuration and intended uses, so the contribution is matched to a receiving organisation’s needs.
Participants work together to understand the components, assemble the agreed kit and explore its operation. The experience gives colleagues something concrete to discuss, measure and improve—with the recipient’s everyday use at the centre.

From sunlight to useful energy
A portable panel converts sunlight into electrical energy.
The matched charging system stores energy in a rechargeable battery.
Compatible outputs supply lighting and supported devices.
Suitable sunlight replenishes storage for the next period of use.
Output varies with sunlight, shade, panel position, temperature and the connected load. Stored energy supports use after dark; the panel itself needs light to generate electricity. Thrill makes these relationships part of the learning.
Invest in the whole system
Thrill’s focus is component quality, practical charging capability and a contribution that suits its destination. Evaluate the equipment, learning and delivery together when comparing quotes.
| What matters | Thrill Solar PALS approach | What your proposal should specify |
|---|---|---|
| Solar collection | A separate, portable solar panel matched to the charging system. | Panel make/model, rated output in watts and compatible connections. |
| Stored energy | Rechargeable battery storage selected for the intended lighting and device use. | Battery capacity in watt-hours, charging requirements and usable-output limits. |
| Multiple devices | Configurations can support more than one compatible device. | Port types, per-port and combined output, supported devices and simultaneous-use limits. |
| Demanding conditions | Equipment selection considers the destination and expected use. | Model-specific temperature limits and ingress ratings for each component; a panel rating does not cover the whole kit. |
| Practical learning | Teams use voltmeters and explore changes in solar output. | The measurements included, test conditions and any agreed load or runtime demonstration. |
| Reliability & care | Matched components, agreed checks and recipient guidance support continued use. | Warranty terms, care instructions, replacement/support arrangements and relevant test evidence. |
| Delivery visibility | Follow the assembled kits through an agreed delivery record. | Kit or batch references, destination organisation, dispatch details and receipt confirmation. |
Thrill Solar PALS is a separate Thrill program. When considering SolarBuddy or another solar charity activity, ask for the exact product and event inclusions, then compare them against the criteria above. Different products may serve different needs.
SolarBuddy’s current specifications and pricing were not verified for this comparison. No claim is made here that its products lack a feature, hold less charge or are less reliable. References do not imply affiliation or endorsement.
Solar PALS is positioned as a premium investment in equipment, facilitation and an agreed delivery journey. A more capable system can carry a higher initial cost. The useful comparison is what the recipient can do with the specified kit, how the team learns, and what support accompanies the donation.
Ask Thrill for a clear scope covering kit quantities, components, testing, recipient arrangements and logistics. Compare that scope with the alternative quote rather than assuming all solar activities provide the same system.

Observe. Measure. Discuss.
With facilitator guidance, participants use voltmeters to observe voltage and compare readings as panel position or shading changes. Teams record conditions, discuss differences and connect what they see with the challenge of collecting useful solar energy.
A voltage reading is a starting point. It does not, by itself, establish charging power, battery capacity or how long a light will run. Where suitable equipment is included, an agreed load test can add current and power readings; a runtime test needs a defined load, starting charge and duration.
This creates a practical conversation about evidence, assumptions and problem solving. What changed? What stayed the same? What would the recipient need to know to use the system well?
Sunlight-dependent measurements are planned around conditions. Indoor delivery can use charged kits and facilitated demonstrations, with a suitable outdoor test area where available.
A large room. One useful purpose.
Turn a sustainability theme into a shared task. Thrill can combine a hosted introduction, small-team activity, coordinated demonstrations and a closing contribution moment.
Introduce the energy-access brief and explain where the kits are intended to go. Link the experience to your conference message without losing sight of the practical task.
Plan table teams, equipment distribution and facilitator support. People can contribute through assembling, recording observations, organising components or presenting findings.
Agree AV, sightlines, working space and the run sheet. Larger audiences need time for demonstrations, questions, checks and packing—not just the participant activity.
Share your delegate count, venue and session window. Thrill will scope staffing, kit quantities, table layout and delivery capacity for that brief. Setup, pack-down and any outdoor measurement session are planned alongside your conference agenda.

Know where the contribution goes
The giving journey is part of Solar PALS. Thrill agrees how kits will be identified and how delivery information will be shared, so your team can follow its contribution beyond the event.
Confirm the receiving organisation, equipment needs and acceptance. Select systems around intended use, the destination environment and available support.
Teams assemble the agreed kits. Record kit or batch references, complete the specified checks and prepare the components and instructions for transport.
Share dispatch information and delivery confirmation through the agreed reporting process. The record connects the event’s kits with the receiving organisation or distribution destination.
Your proposal defines the level of tracking and the updates you will receive. Delivery reporting is a documented handover process, not live GPS monitoring. Individual addresses and personal circumstances are shared only where appropriate and authorised; receipt by a distribution partner is distinguished from onward handover to an individual.
From Thrill’s published event history
Thrill’s published account describes NSW Ports staff assembling 17 Solar PALS systems for donation through Weave Youth & Community Services in Sydney.
Thrill’s published account describes Deloitte staff assembling 47 solar-panel and lighting kits for students connected with Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS).

Your planning questions
Powerful Amped Lighting Systems. It is Thrill’s facilitated solar charity team-building program, combining portable panels, battery storage, lighting and compatible device charging.
Configurations can support multiple compatible devices. The proposed kit specifies ports, combined output and supported loads. Runtime and charging performance depend on the battery, connected devices and available solar input.
Equipment is selected with the destination in mind. Confirm the model-specific temperature, water and dust ratings for each part of the kit. No single rating should be assumed to apply to every component or every condition.
Participants can use voltmeters to observe voltage and explore the effect of position and shade. Current, power, capacity and runtime require suitable additional methods or equipment; the planned measurements are set out in your event brief.
Yes. Assembly, discussion and demonstrations can be planned indoors. Solar-generation measurements depend on suitable light, so an outdoor test area or a weather-adjusted demonstration plan is agreed with your venue.
The agreed reporting process connects kit or batch references with the receiving organisation and delivery records. Your proposal states what dispatch, receipt and onward-distribution information will be provided, respecting recipient privacy.
No. Solar PALS is a separate Thrill program. Compare the exact equipment, workshop activities, destination and follow-through in each proposal. This page does not claim an affiliation or a verified performance ranking between programs.
Allow approximately 1–2 hours as an initial planning range. More detailed testing or a large conference format may need longer. Thrill confirms the schedule, setup, kit quantities and inclusions in your proposal.
